Helambu Trekking

Jiri to Everest Base Camp TrekkingA varied trek visiting attractive Sherpa villages, often combined with the Gosainkund and Langtang Valley treks On its own, the Helambu circuit is a relatively low level trek, very close to Kathmandu, and allows a varied walk through forests of rhododendron, pine and oak. You will visit the picturesque and prosperous Sherpa villages of Malemchigaon and Tarke Gyang, which offer good food and lodging and a friendly welcome. The lodges stay open all year and the trails are relatively quieter too. The Helambu trek is also a feasible winter journey though sometimes snow may fall on the higher reaches and it will be cold at Tharepati.

A trek in Helambu is often combined with the Langtang Valley trek and the trek to Gosainkund and its sacred lakes. There are also high level passes that cross into Langtang from Helambu requiring some mountaineering skill, tents, and an experienced guide: the Ganja La pass, and Tilman’s pass. You can start in Langtang and cross to Helambu or approach Langtang from the south, The three treks of Langtang, Gosainkund and Helambu offer a very varied journey in different landscapes
